gtk error

Hello,
After the last update of emacs (GNU Emacs 23.0.60.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+
Version 2.12.5) of 2008-03-10 on thievol)
I have a strange error when i launch emacs from a terminal:

(emacs:13319): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_container_remove: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET
(widget)' failed

This error is in the terminal and not in emacs, this error come from gtk and not
from emacs.

This error doesn't appear when i launch emacs with -q.
It appear only when i use (menu-bar -1) in .emacs
When i comment that in .emacs it doesn't appear.
But the command (menu-bar -1) work fine as normal.

I have also in my .emacs:

(setq inhibit-startup-message t)

With that i always have before nothing writed in *scratch* but now this command
seem not working: i have all the blabla in *scratch*

I tried:

(setq inhibit-startup-screen t)

It's the same

The both work fine on my laptop with same version of emacs.

For all that emacs don't seem affected and work perfectly.
Emacs display no error message.

Some body have an idea ?

Thierry, I get this when running ssh -X with the display variable set
wrong.

Hi Joel,
do you launch ssh -X from some gtk widget or gtk frontend or from emacs ?
I think the problem come from a bad install of gtk but i don't know what correct.
I tried to reinstall gtk but it did nothing.
On u(n)buntu :) on my laptop i have not this error.

I launch it from an xterm (meaning literally xterm).

Hmmm...what GTK version do you have on Disbuntu?

Does Emacs still launch?

1.2.12 on ubuntu
1.2.10 on gentoo (where the error is)
I am going to try to upgrade this version to see what happen.

I suppose you have (menu-bar -1) or something similar in your .emacs ?
have you tried without ?
