I tried to install emacs-w3m but got messages said that `Emacs-w3m of this
version does not support Emacs 23'.
I ignored the error message and tried to use it and failed. :(

Yes, for emacs 23 you cannot use any released version.  So check out the
current CVS sources of emacs-w3m.
