Hi,
There is a build server and people connect to it over ssh and compile
(normally, it uses gcc with gnu make). As a emacs user, I connected to
the build server using tunneling ssh and vnc, and I launched emacs and
compile same thing.
Compiling itself is no problem, but using emacs compile (M-x compile)
is somewhat slower comparing to when I do it over ssh like other
people who don't use emacs.
Does anybody know about this symptom?

Think about it! What goes thru the pipes in each case?
