See, there is no mailto handler in your prefs.js.

Strange, setting "Firefox Preferences -> Applications -> mailto:" should
set "network.protocal-handler.app.mailto".[1]
Maybe you can try adding it manually in "about:config". Right click on
the column head -> New -> String.
