* Using -mm then unmaximize causes much swapping @ 2014-10-20 8:52 David Hume 2014-10-20 10:12 ` Tassilo Horn [not found] ` <mailman.11554.1413799963.1147.help-gnu-emacs@gnu.org> 0 siblings, 2 replies; 3+ messages in thread From: David Hume @ 2014-10-20 8:52 UTC (permalink / raw) To: help-gnu-emacs I've noticed that if I launch emacs with the -mm option it all works well until I click the unmaximize button, then emacs tries to create such a hugely wide window that the system goes swapping mad. I am not sure if this is down to my setup. I am using xdm/icewm and emacs 24.3.1 64 bit. Does anyone else see this? ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread

Hm, with emacs-24.3 -Q -mm the initial emacs frame is not maximized at all here (which is a bug in its own respect), and with emacs -Q -mm which is the current bzr trunk it is maximized and unmaximizing sets it back to the same frame size as emacs -Q would have resulted in. What you could also try is not using your window manager's maximize/unmaximize button but emacs' `toggle-frame-maximized' command instead.
