Hi,

I want to paste some text in emacs or xemacs and
that text should then be shaped to 70 crts/column, how
can i do that ?

You can set the variable `fill-column' to 70 (this is always done buffer-local),
e.g. via

     M-x set-variable fill-column: 70

Mark the region of inserted text in your buffer and then call `fill-region'.
