This looks suspicious: you don't need the apostrophe ' .

This is wrong, and is the reason for the error.  It should probably
be something like

(setq gnus-posting-styles
       '((address "gottfried <gottfried@posteo.de>")
         ("X-Message-SMTP-Method" "smtp Posteo-posteo.de 465 
           gottfried@posteo.de")))

This is probably redundant: it doesn't have any effect AFAICT.
