Dieter Wilhelm @ 2021-12-03 18:35 UTC (permalink / raw) To: help-gnu-emacs Hello Calcs There might be a typo in the (info "(calc) Basic Algebra Tutorial"). It says in the third input example ("(18 - 2 y) x^2 - 6 x^4 + 6 y" is on the stack): 1: 17 x^2 - 6 x^4 + 3 1: -25 . . 1:2 s l y <RET> 2 s l x <RET> But I think the first input should be "' 1:2 <RET> s l y <RET>". What do you think? Dieter -- Best wishes H. Dieter Wilhelm Zwingenberg, Germany ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

Actually an input "1:2 s l y <RET>" is working without switching to the Algebraic mode first, Calc is so damn good! I'm sorry for the noice Dieter -- Best wishes H. Another example "1 <RET> 2 /" is the same as "1 <RET> 2 <RET> /". If you're entering numbers then commands are recognized immediately. If you're in algebraic insert mode, started with an ' then letters are part of the input. You learn this with experience. Enjoy! -- Daniel Fleischer ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread
