* how to generate a standard ChangeLog file, just from the Git o HG log?

Hi

If I remember correctly years ago the command vc-update-change-log
filled the Standard ChangeLog files with entries from the vc log.

However vc-update-change-log does not work with HG or Git.

Anybody knows about such a tool best would be in elisp, but I wouldn't
mind some script.
