Hello,

apologies if this is an old topic and I have missed previous
solutions. We are using Emacs to work on a number of C++ projects and
are looking for a way to switch between "project contexts": similar to
using VisualStudio, SunStudio or XCode project files, we would like to
have a mechanism that sets up project-specific settings for etags,
macros etc. There is probably a good way to do this with one ".el"
file per project. I can imagine that this problem has been tackled by
many developers with more Emacs experience than we have.

Many thanks in advance,
  Stefan

This is not a complete solution to what you request, but it might help in
working with projects:
http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/Icicles_-_Support_for_Projects

And I'm sure other people will be able to help with code that more specifically
does what you want.

Good luck, and consider posting what you come up with to Emacs Wiki to share it
with others: http://www.emacswiki.org/. That's also an additional place to ask
for help.

This might help:
