That's true at least if you consider the individual defuns in the source :) PS. Nah, someone said earlier that Gnus is slow. Emacs Lisp is perhaps slow as well. This is the reason for the long defuns, modulizing 'em up would make it even slower. The reason for the plethora of features OTOH is the same as for Emacs, people just continued adding features, and they never stopped, and they never stopped, and they never stopped adding features.
