Of course you can make Emacs start in any way you want! *In general*, do it like this: 1) Start Emacs the regular way 2) Set Emacs up the way you want, and remember the commands. Then put those commands in your init files, as Elisp code. *Specifically*, find out what options to set. Those two methods can be combined to do exactly what you want.
