Hi,
How do I make emacsclient start in a terminal (like in -nw mode with
emacs)? When I try to connect to a emacs started with -nw, it says
"Waiting for Emacs...".

You don't. That's something only possible with multiple-tty support,
and that will only get merged into Emacs after Emacs 22 has been
released.
This is one of the areas where XEmacs+gnuclient is further advanced.
