Hi:
Since a few weeks my scrollbar on the right side of my Emacs window is
void. I am not sure what is going on under the hood, but I find it hard
to work without scrollbars, because I use my mouse and have never red
any Emacs manuals.
What will I have do to in order to get my scrollbars back?
Thanks,
Siegfried

The reverse of what you did to make them disappear.

Nothing! I have never changed any settings.

What does C-h v scroll-bar-mode say? Does M-x scroll-bar-mode do anything?

If you start Emacs via "emacs -q -no-site-file", do you then have
scrollbars? If so, then there is a problem in your init files. If
"emacs -q" has scrollbars, the problem is in ~/.emacs, otherwise the
problem is in site-start.el or default.el.

it says:
"scroll-bar-mode's value is nil"
I have to stress here that I never changed any default Emacs files. I
have a mirror of my Linux installation (on my laptop) at my working
place at the university, there everything is okay.
A few weeks ago I installed Emacs (via SuSE's Yast) anew, but even the
new installation does not show any scroll-bars.
