There's no "statute of limitations" on contributions to Emacs. Once you are on the AUTHORS list, you stay there forever. As it should be, IMNSHO. As for RMS's contributions to Emacs in general, try $ git shortlog -s -n and you will see that Richard's contributions still stand head and shoulders above everyone else, even though he is no longer a very active committer.
