Hello list,
I have changed from emacs 21.3 to 22.3 and am now missing this feature:
In the compile-output (gcc) the next error line (Ctrl-x `) is only marked
with an arrow in the fringe, but the line itself is not highlighted with
a different (background-)color any more.
I do NOT want the highlighting in my sourcecode, i want the highlighting
in the *compilation* buffer.

I think you just need to switch on global-font-lock-mode ... I see
file names in red and line numbers in blue, both are bold.
