Hi all,
I was trying to get w3 to work under emacs 21.2.1, with little
success; I did unpack the last version (4.0pre.46) and did
./configure --with-emacs --with-gnus
and then
make
make install
make dotemacs
When I open an url with M-x w3-fetch, it says it is downloading but
does not show anything. It stops with an error, which says
font-find-available-family: Wrong number of arguments: #[(name)
"[control caracters snipped]" [name x-list-fonts] 2], 2
If gnus is running it (gnus) becomes unusable, since it stops reacting
to keys.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Mario.

I think the latest is pre47, not pre46? There was a bugfix in pre47
for Emacs 21...

Strange. M-x w3-version says WWW 4.0pre.46, URL 4.0pre46, MM 1.96,
while the directory in the tar.gz is w3-4.0pre.47. I downloaded it from
ftp://ftp.xemacs.org/pub/xemacs/emacs-w3/w3.tar.gz
as linked in
http://www.cs.indiana.edu/elisp/w3/docs.html
Isn't that the canonical source?
Mario.

Hm. I got it via CVS from subversions.gnu.org:/cvsroot/w3.
Go to http://savannah.gnu.org/ and search for the project and the see
the CVS instructions.
I guess there's also a tarball there.
But maybe the tarball you fetched is the right one. Hm.

I did it, but it does not work. I got the impression that it is mainly
mantained for xemacs, not for emacs. Is that a plausible reason?
Mario.

That's simply because of a problem.
Stefan
