In a previous life, I had a customization that did this, does anyone
have info on where this code is located?

What do you mean? How can Emacs close an help buffer automatically
without knowing you have done reading it?

It would close the help window buffer that had opened after a mouse
event or keystroke in the working buffer, so a `C-x 1' or `C-x k'
would not be required to get rid of the help buffer. You could mouse
click into the help buffer if you wanted to search for further info, I
think you could at least. Anyway, not that big of a deal.
