I have been trying to set up Gnu Emacs 23 for reading and writing email. I've tried both Wanderlust and Gnus and my first problem is getting either to work with 2-step verification. I can get into imap if I turn 2 step off, but I really don't want to do that.
So, can emacs be made to work as a mail reader with 2-step verification and if so how?
Thanks for any help.

There is no 2-step authentication in IMAP. I think you need to generate an "application specific password" to continue using IMAP after you enable 2-step authentication in Gmail.

The problem i had with Emacs 23 was installing the right version of
stunnel. Emacs 24 has overcome the problem. I gave up and went back to
using the gmail UI although i found alpine worked very well, easy to
set up and incorporates well with Emacs.
