Hi NG,
I am wondering why I keep getting this inquiry: "Start Emacs server for
inverse search in viewer ? (y or n)", the first time in every session
that I want to view a dvi file in auctex. I have (server-start) in my
~/.emacs, so this makes it even more difficult to understand for me. Are
there more servers involved ?
Thanks in advance,

Try
emacs -debug-init
It may be that the line with server-start is not reached.

I started using emacs couple of weeks ago and had a simple question.
>From the text mode, how do I save an existing emacs file to my USB
drive? so say, I have a file "notes" in /home/user folder. How do I
open that file in text mode and save it to a USB file.
Rajiv

C-x C-f /home/user/ notes RET
C-x C-w /mnt/notes RET

I just tried doing that, but no messages show up. Maybe I should try
putting the server-start line in the top instead.

Maybe
emacs --debug-init
is better. Though I am not sure, it seems that emacs at least sometimes
does not require double -- at the option start.
