The news of previous peoples is certainly one of the matters people ought to contemplate. In history, many societies have been wiped off of the face of the earth because of their denial and perversions. God tells us that these cases of destruction should be a warning for succeeding generations.

Having perished because of their rebellion against God and their rejection of His commands, those communities reveal to us how weak and impotent mankind is with respect to God.
