In GNU emacs 21.2.1 (i686-pc-cygwin), cc-mode thinks that the field names in
bitfields are actually labels, and thus automatically creates
this "stairstep" form of indenting that I find to be really ugly.

If you can upgrade to Emacs 21.3 or 21.3.50 (CVS), you might find the problem
is fixed. If not, you should submit a proper bug report via `M-x
report-emacs-bug'.
