I would also like to set new binding on the commands that were (or would have been) set free (like C-a to move-beginning-of-line). I respect the "development history" that lead to your default key bindings, but I'm 40 y.o. and I just don't want to change my fundamental habits. And btw, I know about your CUA mode. But it doesn't fit my needs for two main reasons: it offers not all of the hotkeys I mentioned above and it doen't work everywhere.
