There used to be a bufdir function that looked like dired, but on
buffers.
I can't find it.
If I didn't imagine it, does anyone know where it is?

You mean M-x ibuffer?
The normal list-buffers command (C-x C-b) actually has many dired-like
features; ibuffer is very similar, but even more featureful.
