Hi there,
Having a bit of a problem with Emacs...
Sometimes when I call a function, such as buffer list or man page, with
several windows open, emacs does not always replace the current window
with the new buffer. Sometimes it does, but selecting a buffer from the
list replaces the wrong window and leaves the buffer list open.
Can someone please explain where I'm going wrong?
Many thanks,
Nick

Maybe. If you give us some more concrete examples.

You assume that GNU Emacs can read your mind. (It can't. Seriously.)
Does reading the documentation on the functions that create new
windows help? Or, how is it when you create a dedicated frame in
which you invoke functions that create new buffers? If this frame
only shows the *scratch* or *Messages* buffer (which means that you
close the newly created window) than the new one's existence wouldn't
hurt that much ...

Would it be better trying this on Sentient Emacs? ;)

This is exactly what I was looking for! Great stuff!
Thanks very much,
