OK, so I've figured it out. The point is, they were not sorted
alphabetically, but *reversed*, since the choice list was processed by
something like
(dolist (choice choices)
...(push choice filtered-choices))
I sent a pull request (adding a single "reverse") to the developer of
YASnippet.
