Hi list,
Sorry, quite misleading, my Subject.
I have the following hook in my .emacs in order to conceal passwords to be
typed out clearly in a shell buffer:
(add-hook 'comint-output-filter-functions 'comint-watch-for-password-prompt)
Whenever I have worked with Whizzytex, this hook stops functioning and
passwords can be seen clearly on screen until I restart Emacs. Can
anybody reproduce this problem or even has a workaround?
Greetings,
Sven

I can't. But I can report that recent versions of GNU Emacs, version
22.x, transfers the password prompt into the mini-buffer and there
nothing is echoed. This works without any hook.

You are right. I deleted the hook on my version 22.1.50.1. But still,
after I launched Whizzytex, passwords are typed clearly in the shell
prompt :-(

This bit at the end of whizzy-start-process looks suspicious:
(save-excursion
(set-buffer buf)
(setq whizzy-status status)
(setq comint-output-filter-functions
(list (function whizzy-filter-output)))
)
Perhaps that second setq should be replaced by
(add-hook 'comint-output-filter-functions 'whizzy-filter-output t t)
