* compile frame pops up when switching to related buffer once initialized

I am using tab mode to switch between buffers. The problem is that after
initializing the compile window (C-c . \) even if I close it, when I
switch to a related buffer the window pops back open and gets the focus,
which is very very annoying.

Any way to disable that?
