I experimented a bit and it seems to work now. I binded it as follows (I should have been more explicit on what I wanted the key to represent): (global-set-key (kbd "\eOo") "\57") I hope this solution is clean, because it came into life with an ASCII table in front, but without the slightest emacs knowledge.
