Subject: default face behaves abnormally

Dear Emacs community,

Some months ago I compiled and installed emacs 21.1.1 in my
Gnu/Linux system. Initially I used my old .emacs file and all
works greatly. Recently, fiddling with *Customize* I
discovered the following strange behaviour:

When you set the value of your default face using *Customize*
you automatically lose all the settings of the font-lock
faces. More specifically, the font-lock faces have their
default value no matter what is set in your .emacs file.

I tried different ways of configuring the faces, but whenever
the default face is within `custom-set-faces' you get this
abnormal behaviour. Of course you can set the default face
using `default-frame-alist' and/or `initial-frame-alist' as I
actually have always done and all will be OK (if you comment
out the line containing the default face within
`custom-set-faces'), but I think this situation is quite
confusing for the user and I can't understand why emacs work
this way. Could anyone illuminate me?

Regards,
luis
