Namely, when writing any Finnish =20 text (or Swedish text for that matter), I am in need to produce the =20 letter '=E4'. However, when I press the key '=E4' what appears on my = GNU-=20 Emacs screen running in an X-window is 'ae'. Now this sounds to me =20 like mapping non-US characters to US replacements. But at the same =20 time the rest of the scandinavian alphabets are produced properly, =20 i.e. I get '=E5=F6=C5=C4=D6' properly to the screen. Only the lower case = '=E4' is =20 behaving in a strange way. Unfortunately I can not tell exactly when this strange behaviour =20 started, but I have never seen it before during the 15+ years of =20 ahppily using GNU-Emacs. The version of Emacs I am running right now =20 is 23.1.1. My guess is something is misconfigured during an upgrade, I just do =20 not know what. Any clues are highly appreciated. Best regards, Petri -- Petri Kaurinkoski
