Can we read news using Emacs using ATOM files provided by the news sites?
For example, we can read news in GNUS using RSS files... but atom...?

Yes, check for newsticker in the GNU Emacs documentation for knowledge on how to
do that.

Yes, use newsticker.el which is part of emacs cvs or you can get it
here:
