Disabling beep

Hi all,

How can I disable the Emacs beep? Sometimes I'm hearing music and it's
very annoying to hear it when I write something incorrect.

M-x customize-variable RET visible-bell RET

Just put in your .emacs

(setq visible-bell t)

and to control precisely when to beep use something like:

(setq ring-bell-function
      (lambda ()
        (unless (memq this-command
                      '(isearch-abort
                        abort-recursive-edit
                        exit-minibuffer
                        keyboard-quit
                        delete-backward-char
                        ))
          (ding)
          )))
