Maybe one can back that up with digits, like the number of
posts to MLs, the Emacs SX site, the number of blog posts listed
here and so on.

Actually I'm not sure what the definition of the Emacs
community is. I'm not sure it ever felt like a community,
even? Maybe sometimes ...
