Putting a limited optional package in should not really be a concern for the feature freeze as long as its presence does not imply one should rework the manual and stuff. And as long as it does not keep other people from working on the release. I don't think this is the case here, but I'd let Richard decide this instead of trying to interpret the general intent and rules yourself. It is an often asked for functionality, and the package is more or less the answer given to that even if I don't know it myself. But people need not use it if they don't want to. So I'd ask Richard instead of censoring yourself.
