We have papers on file from Sascha Wilde.  I thought that we don't
need to add "tiny change" if we have papers.  Am I wrong?

I checked before making this change, but didn't find his name in the
FSF records because it is spelled differently there: "Sacha" vs
"Sascha".  The FSF is (rightfully, IMHO) picky about having the same
spelling on file and in ChangeLog entries, so I will wait for Richard
to tell what to do in this case.

That's quite strange.  I just rechecked my PDF copy of the papers, and
they correctly spell my name as "Sascha".

I did write him a mail, and I'm now waiting for his response...

As stated before: the name on the papers is correct, so guess a typo
by the clerk is the only explanation.

I just got the answer.  The spelling should now be everywhere the
same: "Sascha", for that's my name...  ;-)

Ah, I didn't notice this difference.  (I searched for "Wilde" and
checked the mail address.)

There are only changes by "Sascha Wilde" in Emacs and I can't find a
single article of "Sacha Wilde" in all Emacs list on Gmane.  I'm
Cc-ing Sascha in this reply.  Probably he should clarify the
misspelling (?) with assign<at>gnu.org?

Given that "Herbert Euler" writes "Regards, Guanpeng Xu" in his
articles[1], I doubt that "Herbert Euler" is the right name.

Recently, there was a tiny contribution to Gnus from "xyblor
<fake@invalid.email>" [2].  I'm quite reluctant to include anonymous
contributions because there is no way to ensure that the same person
doesn't contribute more than a single "tiny change".  Do we have
guidelines for such cases?

We have to know who the contributor is, but we can agree not to
use his name in public.

It is ok if the names in ChangeLog vary
as long as we have a table matching the ChangeLog names
with the names that are in our copyright papers.

The way I understand it, the aliases don't matter.  What matters is
that the log entries use the _legal_ name of the contributor, which is
the name stated in the papers he/she signed.

The aliases are there because the ChangeLogs and other files use
those _different_ names for authors.  I'm pretty sure that only one
of those names match the one on file.

It is not a problem to use multiple ways of writing someone's name,
provide we have an explicit table of equivalences.  Our clerk can
handle that.
