Judging from the gdb output, I thought the reporter was debugging the
native windows port using cygwin gdb.

Sorry, you are right. My bad. But then I don't understand why it
crashes for the OP, because it does work for me, with exactly the same
Emacs version.
Did you experience such crashes?
