Mattias, for some reason your commits to Emacs turn up with the
following From header on the commits mailing list:

  From: Unknown <unknown@unknown.invalid>

Something missing in your .git defaults?

Not that I know of; the git log looks all right. Maybe it's the commit mailer having trouble with non-ASCII names again.

Itʼs correct on
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-diffs/2019-06/msg00647.html

    branch: master
    commit 866f527ddf21050a827fa47e04cfe6163f1c7053
    Author: Mattias Engdegård <address@hidden>
    Commit: Mattias Engdegård <address@hidden>

and the mbox archive contains the correct non-hidden address. Are you
looking at the list using gmane? Iʼve seen this there for some
senders.

Robert

The From: header is not correctly encoded.

Andreas.

Hm... Oh, yeah, this is what the Git server sends out:

From: =?UTF-8?Q?mattiase=40savannah=2Egnu?= =?UTF-8?Q?=2Eorg=20=28Mattias=20Engdeg=C3=A5?= =?UTF-8?Q?rd=29?=

That is seriously invalid -- only the name parts should be encoded with
rfc2047 encoding, not the actual mail address.

Yup. Can't post an NNTP article with seriously invalid From headers, so
it's rewritten there...
