In
Today's GNU Emacs CVS snapshot, 2007 Aug 16 09:43 UTC
GNU Emacs 22.1.50.19 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.10.13)
the documentation for GNU Emacs refers to Tumme.

See

    File: emacs, Node: Thumbnails

    (info "(emacs)Thumbnails")

The node starts by saying,

Tumme is a facility for browsing image files.

The current name is 'image-dired' as in emacs/lisp/image-dired.el.
although 'M-x tumme' succeeds.

No it doesn't (check man/dired.texi). Perhaps you are picking up old
info files from somewhere.

My apologies for the noise. I was reading old documentation.
I did the same with Emacs Calc documentation, too.
Very embarrassing!
