Yes, I'm thinking of cases where there's fine-grained communication:
pass a buffer to the other container which does a quick change then
returns the buffer, etc...

Yes, maybe it's good enough, indeed.
Has anyone tried to use async for elisp--local-variables?
Same for Gnus and/or EWW?
