I think this would be great.  I haven't used array.el, but looking at
it, I'm wondering how it relates/compares to table.el and org.el's
table support (as well as GNU ELPA's csv-mode).

Trying to consolidate those various solutions to similar/related
problems would be a welcome improvement.

Well at least table.el and org-table.el have different table models.  It
would certainly be welcome to move to a superset of those, preferrably
at least matching the HTML table model (with the possible exception of
nested tables).  But that's quite a bit of work even before considering
to unify the different types of "table" in the current Emacs.
