So that treats the Git repository as a sort of "distribution site for tarball-like thingies". If you like it, use Quelpa (or argue for ELPA to support other repository formats). That's not the purpose of `package-vc`. `package-vc`s purpose is to install the source so you can hack on it. Stefan
