If you want people to know this exists, please make a NEWS entry.
Also, ChangeLog.2 is auto-generated, so don't add new entries there by hand.

That is a good point. Actually, I think that the news entry will be
more "successful" if people will find/grep the mentioned Emacs variable
in some of Emacs' lisp files. Therefore, I would suggest to add the
NEWS entry after the following has been done:

 1. make python-mode respect the vars, at least the first two elements
(I currently working on this - I will send a proposal to this list)

 2. make cc-mode respect the vars (I plan to work on it after 1)

 3. update antlr-mode.el which will benefit from it. I will first
update just the sources in http://antlr-mode.sourceforge.net/. The
sources there need some cleanup before it should be part of an
officially released Emacs (we could probably put it into the master
branch if that branch is not going to get released in 2015).

Paul was already so kind to correct my first push. Now I also have read
CONTRIBUTE, and not just http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/GitForEmacsDevs ...

Indeed, I can't imagine we'll make a release from "master" in 2015.
I expect a feature freeze around the end of the summer and a release in
"early" 2016.

This is backwards. NEWS first, other stuff later.
