There are four elisp packages that use it currently on the trunk, and
one of them is bs.el, where I added a frame-local variable but I will
surely remove it because I now think it is the wrong fix for the
problem I was solving.

That was over nine and a half years ago. The list archives of that
time are not public, so it's a task for someone who was there at that
moment.
