It appears to work well enough to be useful, and as far as I can tell doesn't interfere with non-gtk platforms (I kept your previous patch applied even when I switched back to using the normal lucid widgets). It seems like the only real pre-checkin change needed is ChangeLog entries (and that's pretty easy if you use Stefan's whizzy `C-x 4'- from-diff-mode feature). -Miles -- Occam's razor split hairs so well, I bought the whole argument!
