We haven't interacted much directly on the lists, but I'll be sorry to see you go. cc-mode is one of the most essential modes in Emacs for me, and without it I probably wouldn't use Emacs at all (and thus would never have become the current Eshell maintainer). I won't get into the technical aspects of your message since I wasn't following the original discussions closely. However, I did want to say that we're all doing this for free (I think), and I've always felt that if it stops being fun, it's time for a break at minimum. More generally, I do think there are important things for everyone to take from this. I'm confident that everyone here wants what's best for Emacs, but that's not only a technical question. Emacs development is a lot of work, and it's important to feel that your contributions (of any kind; not just code) are appreciated.
