You provide no explanation why they shouldn't -- storing text region in a bookmark would be immensly useful for example. Instead, you simply dismiss the idea without even the remote possibility to explore it, while at the same time forcing through the patch of registers having confirmation -- whose entire purpose is to not be interactive. Seems like this discussion is at a impase and pointless since you've already made the decision, and the whole notion of havign a discussion is a smoke screen.
