I am skeptical that that would address these issues, but I can't be sure since I don't know what that does. Can you please show a hypotherical example of solvin a problem this way? For instance, how would you propose to use them to distinguish between @var, @def and @emph? They look alike in TeX output. It is in OTHER formats that they produce different output. 1. What would that approach look like in the document source?
