And nothing what I wrote claimed anything else -- yes you can input the M-S-x key sequence in other ways. But getting M-S-x to work in some situations can be extra tricky compared to say faking hyper/super using another key that can be sent or using C-x @ -- the shift key often needs extra care, that is all. It is also why it is often the case to avoid using shift (other than being slightly confusing to the user when using caps-lock) when combining it with other buckies, because of encountered trickyness in some terminals or even just where the keyboard cannot do too many modifiers at the same time or has other issues with ghosting.
