Being able to run Emacs on your machine at work is a good thing, but don't give up on pressuring against running Windows there. They are doing something very foolish, and they need to keep hearing that. Also, when you find a job that makes better use of your skills, tell everyone that is why you left. I saw an article recently saying that in France there is a demand for people with skills in logiciel libre. Maybe you can move there and find work.
